Specialty Linens: The Newest Trends and Biggest Impact

Today, in Q & A format, we address one of the newest trends in wedding decor.

Q. Why should I use specialty linens in my wedding?
A.
Specialty linens have the biggest impact when it comes to design because tables are the biggest objects in the room. Previously, white and ivory were the standard choices for linens and the centerpiece was the only way to add color and design. Linens are like canvases and they can transform any even in to an extraordinary visual experience, Just like apparel fabrics, each linen fabric tells its own story. In act, many of the fabrics currently used in the industry are apparel fabrics. Bottom line, dollar for dollar, linens add more design value than any other component in an event.

Q. How do you help Brides choose which linens are right for their wedding?
A. Usually the first decision is about color, then style. Linen decisions are framed around the color of flowers, bridesmaid dresses, invitations and the bride's favorite colors. Next, we look at style. Some people are romantics and want fabrics that communicate that look, others want sparkle and glitz, and some Brides prefer a modern, sleek style. Keeping a notebook with photos of ideas and styles, that they like, helps a wedding design coordinator get a visual image of their preferences and personalities, because every wedding is an opportunity to express individuality.

Q. What are the latest trends in linens?
A. Brides are taking more risks with color, no color is off-limits. Eggplant, violet, chartreuse, and fuchsia weddings, even orange has been popular. Brides are less concerned about convention and want to express their spirit through the design of their wedding. There isa lot of emphasis on specialty tables.

A. Cake tables, sweetheart tables, bridal parties, escort tables are where photographers shoot a lot of photos, so linen ensembles that feature specialty tables within distinct color ranges.
