Day 1 in Brisbane

So, finally, I am in Brisbane.

Last Thursday night, I flew on Airasia from Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and reached Coolongatta Airport, Gold Coast on Friday, early morning at 7.25am. The night before, Mr. Bf said that he will reach about 7.45am. By the time I collected my luggage, declared the food I brought with me and exited, the time was 8am but there was NO sign of Mr. Bf.

He did not even have the courtesy to answer my numerous calls. Bum.

Fortunately enough, my friend, Mr. Froggy who is currently in the Airasia Pilot Trainee Programme came by and we were just catching up. He wanted to bring me back to his place so that I can cook breakfast for him! Retard.

He should be the one cooking breakfast for me, his friend from Malaysia and not the other way round. Guys! Bah! As we planned to walked over to Subway with my luggage bags, Mr. Bf finally decided that he was ready to meet me and called to say that he was reaching.

We stopped by Subway for my friend to have his breakfast and left about 9am and headed to Surfers Paradise for some breakfast. I have blogged about this place last August where you pay AUD10 for an all-you-can-eat-buffet-breakfast HERE.

We were both famished!

Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Grilled tomatoes and potato gems!

You can have toast bread and even pancakes with peanut butter, strawberry jam, honey and even Vegemite!

You can miss it. It's facing the beach.

After that, instead of heading to Harbour Town, SeaWorld as planned or anywhere else, we headed back home as we were both feeling tired. We had a short rest and then, headed to Brisbane City which is about 20minutes bus ride away from Carindale, the suburb where Mr. Bf lives.

Knowing of my love for pastas, the Bf brought me to VAPIANO, an Italian Restaurant which is in the new Albert Lane, just off Queen St Mall. Queen St Mall is a long street filled with shops along it.

Back to Vapiano.

When you enter, each person is given an electronic card where it gets swipe whenever you order your food may it be pizza, pasta or salads and etc. And when you leave, you pay for whatever that has been swiped and ordered.

Herbs to go with ones Pizza.

Carbonara Linguine AUD15.

As always, I can't say NO to Carbonara and must give it a try wherever I go. We had the Linguine as there were no Fettuccine. I must say, the texture of the Linguine was a tad hard. for my taste. Mr. Bf said that it tasted better the last time he came. I was somewhat disappointed as I've had better ones in Malaysia.

Instead of a typical pizza, we ordered a Calzone and was given the above beeper. When your order is ready, they will buzz for you and you can head over to the counter to collect your order. Pretty neat idea!

The Calzone that was filled with ham, mushrooms, pepperoni, olives, onions, herbs, our own tomato base, mozzarella and costs AUD17.

After our meal, we had a stroll along shops and dropped by Borders. Mr. Bf knew of my interest for Lomo Cameras and bought me to this shop that had a few on display!

I love the fact that I could actually browse through and have a look at the cameras literally. But in comparison, THE CLICK SHOP sells them relatively cheaper and postage within Malaysia itself is FREE!! But now that I am here in OZ (aka Australia), it'll cost me. Darn!

Ngee, drool worthy right??

It is the end of Autumn now and the sky gets dark by 5pm making me feel as if it was already night!

City Hall.

On Friday nights, the city as in shops along Queen St Mall closes late. Instead of the regular 5pm closing time, shops closes at 9pm. Yeah, I know. The night is forever young in Malaysia where Malaysia's shop closes at 9.30pm on weekdays and later on weekends. Then, one is forever free to adjourned to the local mamak shops for food and drinks! Here, it's the pubs and clubs that are opened til late.

Opposite the Treasury Casino, every Friday night, there are free dancing classes conducted. Yup! On the street itself and ANYONE is free to join in to dance. There's Salsa, Cha Cha, Rhumba and it's FREE! There were a lot of newbies.

I think, for this kind of thing, you'll need to do it with some crazy and unreserved friends. Mr. Bf would definitely NOT have a go at it with me. Spoilsport. Gill, come here and I'll bring you there k! =p

On my first day in Brisbane, I was pretty much homesick mainly missing my friends like crazy. I wanted to board the plane and fly right back to Malaysia. I know I blogged about the finer points in Australia and how it trumped Malaysia but you know what??

There is a difference with coming here for a holiday and staying here semi permanently. So, if right now, you ask me how am I settling down and all, my answer will be...

I MISS YOU GUYS BACK HOME TERRIBLY! Gill, PB, Wen, Ngee, MT, Juice, ChaCha and so many more!! I wish I could pack you guys one by one and bring you over!
