Questions to Consider When Choosing an Ourdoor Wedding Venue

Many items come into play when choosing an indoor or outdoor location for your wedding or reception. It is recommend that you come prepared to ask certain questions to the staff responsible for the venue you are choosing. When selecting an outdoor venue, here is a list of some questions that you should ask the venue staff prior to securing any rented facility.

1. What is the procedure for inclement weather?
2. Where will the wedding be relocated to?
3. Who makes this decision and when?
4. Who will notify the guests and how will they be notified?
5. Who will notify the wedding party and how?
6. If the event is moved indoors, and you paid any outdoor venue fees, wil they be reimbursed?
7. Where are the restrooms located and how convenient are they to your guests?
8. Parking; convenience, valet, shuttles?
9. Handicapped access?
10. Consider the temperature. If too hot or cold, be sure to provide items to accommodate the comfort of your guests.
11. Understand the set up and your approach.
12. Is there a dressing area for you nad your wedding party? If so, are there fees? What time frame do you ge this space. Make sure it is adequate for what you are using it for.
13. If your event is outdoors, consider the challenge for people wearing heels, etc. If you foresee and issues, be sure to do your vest to let people know what would be comfortable and appropriate to wear.
14. Know the needs of your vendors with regards to power, shelter and set up accessibility.
15. Make sure the venue you select allows your vendors an find out if there are any policies or restrictions.
16. If your chosen vendors have worked this particular venue before, check with them to see if the know of any issues you may face.
17. If you want dancing, find out if there is an area, if they provide a dance floor and if there are fees attached.
18. Do you need to provide your own tables.chairs? If they provide any items, are there additional fees attached?
19. Do they allow glass items outside? Unity candles (open flame)?
