2010 San Diego Botanical Gardens Gala

This is our second year participating in the Gala at the gardens. So this year we where suppose to partner up w/ Cocina Del Charro (confused the date of event)at gardens . We got lucky , since we had a large table floral piece . The theme you could say was Avatar ( Movie). Jodie Holt was being honored that evening , since she was the botanist for the Movie.

So our interpretation for our piece was colors / textures / lights . This was the beginning piece of our piece.We wanted to incorporate as many colors , and light it up .Some of the florals we used where : Liatris / Pin-cushion /Birds of Paradise / Scabiosa / Dear Moss/ so much more...

 

As you can see our piece was quite large. So we got lucky we did not have to share it. Our piece was a whimsical story line piece. It started off with the colors and textures ( as does the movie). Then we have a willow tree branch that goes across to the end of the story. It is hard to notice but we included the spirits on the branch.

We wanted to create a piece that was not the traditional abstract piece. I wanted something that said something and they would look at it and say OH!! I get it !!

This was a night shot of my Avatar piece , and if you look towards your left , that was suppose to be the ground the lights up in the movie as they walked across. So I added , some water crystals and put them on top of led lights. So at night my whole entire piece was lit up.
